NURBS surface modeling and Grasshopper visual programming, with a live link into Archicad. Sold and trained by Nordic BIM Group Finland, the local McNeel Rhinoceros partner.
Most BIM authoring tools draw rectangles. They model the building, not the building's curves. Mesh tools handle the curves but lose the precision a fabricator needs. And parametric studies, the ones that drive a real free-form design, want a visual programming environment, not a sidebar of scripts.
Rhinoceros pulls those three jobs into one place. NURBS surfaces at production precision, Grasshopper for the parametric layer and a live link back into Archicad when it is time to document the building.
Curved roofs, twisted facades, free-form shells. The design exists. The authoring tool says no. Rhinoceros says yes.
Polygon modellers are fast for concept work but produce surfaces a fabricator cannot quote against. NURBS keeps every surface buildable.
Scripting works, but the result is a black box. Grasshopper makes the logic visible, editable and shareable across the team.
Build the surface in Rhino. NURBS control points give you the precision a fabricator can quote against. The same model works for visualisation, fabrication, analysis, and downstream BIM.
Drive the geometry parametrically. Grasshopper turns the design logic into a visible node graph. Change one input, the model updates everywhere it propagates.
The Rhino-Grasshopper-Archicad live connection sends the parametric model into Archicad as native BIM elements. Documentation and regulatory work happen in Archicad. The geometry stays linked.
Production-grade surfaces from hand-drawn sketches, 2D drawings, physical models, or laser-scanned data. Every surface is buildable.
Parametric design without writing code. Grasshopper ships with Rhinoceros. The logic is visible, the result updates live.
IGES, STEP, OBJ, STL, DWG, DXF, IFC. Rhino reads what other tools save and writes what other tools open. Food4Rhino adds the plugins that fill the gaps.
Cloud Zoo shares licenses across a distributed team. LAN Zoo keeps licensing on a local network. Both are free with the Rhinoceros license.
The audience sits across five groups: architects and designers drawing free-form geometry that Archicad cannot produce natively; computational-design specialists running Grasshopper to drive parametric studies, optioneering, and rule-based design; structural engineers and site engineers using Rhino's surface precision for steel sections, complex connections, and as-built capture; product designers and makers moving Rhino surfaces into CAM and 3D print; and architecture and design students working on the McNeel educational license.
Each starts in a different place. All of them end up in the same model.
Graphisoft developed a two-way live link between Rhino, Grasshopper, and Archicad. The link pushes parametric Rhino geometry into Archicad as native BIM elements: slabs, walls, shells, and morphs that Archicad treats as its own. The model stays linked. Update the Rhino geometry, the Archicad model updates. The Tapir Grasshopper plugin adds Archicad automation routines on top of that workflow for teams that script their own BIM operations.
Nordic BIM Group is the exclusive Archicad partner across the Nordics. The same Finnish team that sold the customer Archicad delivers Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and the live-connection workflow. One partner, one Finnish-language conversation.
A one-hour guided introduction to Rhinoceros in Finnish. Live, remote or in person. Useful before the trial if you want to see what the tool does on a real model first.
Nordic BIM Group offers a basic course in Finnish covering NURBS modelling fundamentals. Contact us for more information.
A separate Grasshopper track for the parametric-design audience. Visual programming, definitions, common patterns. Combined Rhino-plus-Grasshopper sessions on request.
Advice on which license server fits your team. Cloud Zoo for distributed teams, LAN Zoo for local-network setups. Both free with the license. The local team helps you pick before you subscribe.

Two licenses, one Finnish partner, training in Finnish from day one.
Yes. Nordic BIM Group Finland is the local McNeel Rhinoceros reseller and training partner. Purchase runs through the Finnish webshop linked from this page. Finnish-language support and training are part of the customer relationship.
Perpetual. One-time purchase. The version you buy is yours for as long as you use it. Service releases for that version are free. Upgrades to future major versions are paid at the upgrade rate, not a subscription.
Two free McNeel license servers for floating Rhinoceros licenses across a team. Cloud Zoo is hosted by McNeel and works across the internet, useful for distributed teams. LAN Zoo runs on your local network and keeps licensing inside the firewall, useful for teams that prefer that pattern. Both are free with the license. The Finnish team helps you pick the model that fits before you subscribe.
Yes, through the Rhino-Grasshopper-Archicad live connection developed by Graphisoft. The connection pushes parametric Rhino geometry into Archicad as native BIM elements through a Grasshopper definition. Nordic BIM Group has Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish knowledge articles on the workflow and runs combined Rhino-plus-Archicad sessions in Finnish for teams that already use Archicad.
Yes. McNeel offers a 90-day evaluation trial directly on rhino3d.com. Nordic BIM Group Finland also runs free Rhinoceros demos (one-hour sessions) in Finnish for visitors who want a guided introduction before the evaluation trial. Demo and trial are complementary, not alternatives.
McNeel sells educational Rhinoceros licenses at a discounted price. The educational license is fully featured, perpetual, with no watermark and no expiry and can be used for both academic and commercial work. On the Nordic BIM Group site, student and teacher routes live in the Student Hub. The Student Hub carries the current Rhinoceros educational application path.
Rhinoceros reads and writes NURBS surface formats (3DM native, IGES, STEP), mesh formats (OBJ, STL, PLY), CAD formats (DWG, DXF), and BIM formats (IFC). The McNeel compatibility page on rhino3d.com carries the full list. For Archicad workflows specifically, the live Grasshopper connection bypasses file-format export entirely.
Rhinoceros runs on macOS and Windows. A workstation with a modern dedicated GPU is the practical minimum for fluid viewport performance on large NURBS models. McNeel publishes detailed system requirements on rhino3d.com. Talk to the local team if procuring new hardware alongside the license.
