Free-form geometry, precise enough for production
Most BIM authoring tools draw rectangles. They model the building, not the building's curves. Mesh tools handle the curves but lose the precision a fabricator needs. And parametric studies, the ones that drive a real free-form design, want a visual programming environment, not a sidebar of scripts.
Rhinoceros pulls those three jobs into one place. NURBS surfaces at production precision, Grasshopper for the parametric layer and a live link back into Archicad when it is time to document the building.

Model in Rhinoceros
Build the surface in Rhino. NURBS control points give you the precision a fabricator can quote against. The same model works for visualisation, fabrication, analysis, and downstream BIM.
Refine with Grasshopper
Drive the geometry parametrically. Grasshopper turns the design logic into a visible node graph. Change one input, the model updates everywhere it propagates.
Push into Archicad
The Rhino-Grasshopper-Archicad live connection sends the parametric model into Archicad as native BIM elements. Documentation and regulatory work happen in Archicad. The geometry stays linked.

Grasshopper visual programming
Parametric design without writing code. Grasshopper ships with Rhinoceros. The logic is visible, the result updates live.
Open file formats
IGES, STEP, OBJ, STL, DWG, DXF, IFC. Rhino reads what other tools save and writes what other tools open. Food4Rhino adds the plugins that fill the gaps.
Floating licenses with Cloud Zoo
Cloud Zoo shares licenses across a distributed team. LAN Zoo keeps licensing on a local network. Both are free with the Rhinoceros license.

The audience sits across five groups: architects and designers drawing free-form geometry that Archicad cannot produce natively; computational-design specialists running Grasshopper to drive parametric studies, optioneering, and rule-based design; structural engineers and site engineers using Rhino's surface precision for steel sections, complex connections, and as-built capture; product designers and makers moving Rhino surfaces into CAM and 3D print; and architecture and design students working on the McNeel educational license.

Where Rhinoceros meets Archicad
Graphisoft developed a two-way live link between Rhino, Grasshopper, and Archicad. The link pushes parametric Rhino geometry into Archicad as native BIM elements: slabs, walls, shells, and morphs that Archicad treats as its own. The model stays linked. Update the Rhino geometry, the Archicad model updates. The Tapir Grasshopper plugin adds Archicad automation routines on top of that workflow for teams that script their own BIM operations.
