Most of the day you spend placing objects, hunting for ones that fit, and untangling a library that has grown out of hand. This course puts you back in control. You learn to import objects in any format, build the ones that do not exist, make them read correctly in plan and in 3D, and keep your library clean. Live and instructor-led, taught by Nordic BIM Group specialists on the current Archicad version. Assumes you know the Archicad basics.
Object Management in Archicad: import, build, and control your objects and libraries
Who it's for
One course for people who already know Archicad and want objects and libraries to work for them, not against them. It assumes you have the basics, so if you are brand new to Archicad, start with Archicad Fundamentals. Pick the situation that sounds like you.
The object you need does not exist
You search the catalogue, find nothing that fits, and make do with something close. You learn to build simple objects and components of your own with Archicad's standard tools, custom door leaves, window panels, and cabinet fronts included.
Imported objects will not come in cleanly
You download an object and it arrives broken, misplaced, or in a format Archicad does not like. You learn which formats work best, and how to import, clean up, edit, and save objects in Archicad format, ready for the project.
Imported objects look wrong on the plan
An imported object looks right in 3D but wrong on the drawing. You learn to adjust the plan symbol of imported objects, so the plan shows what it should.
Your office library is a slow, messy sprawl
Missing parts, duplicates, and a library so large that projects crawl on open. Book a place, or talk to an advisor about training the team and setting up one clean, shared office library everyone builds from.
What you'll learn
By the end you can bring in any object, build the ones you cannot find, and run a library you trust. Here is the scope.
Objects come from many places and many formats, and the wrong choice causes most import trouble. You learn what Archicad can import and how, from single objects to whole supplier libraries, so content lands clean and sits where you expect it. This is where the daily frustration of broken downloads goes away.
When the catalogue does not have it, you make it. You learn to build your own objects and components with Archicad's standard tools, for example custom door leaves, window panels, and cabinet fronts, and to save them as reusable library parts. The tools set the limits: what you build is simpler than the parametric objects that ship with Archicad, and it covers the everyday gaps the catalogue leaves.
You build custom content with Archicad's own tools, no GDL programming required. You learn complex profiles for custom cross-sections, Morph for free-form shapes, and Library Part Maker for data-rich, BIM-ready library parts. Library Part Maker needs an active maintenance-agreement license and Archicad 26 or newer. If you want to script parametric objects in GDL, that is a different skill, covered in Basic Parametric Design.
An object has to look right everywhere it appears. You learn to control each object's representation, so the symbol on the plan, the detail in the section, and the model in 3D all match the level of detail the drawing needs.
A library you can trust is one you keep clean. You learn to find and fix missing parts, link libraries correctly, clear out duplicates, and keep the whole thing maintainable so projects open fast and nothing goes missing. You leave with working methods that hold up on a real project, not just in a demo file.
