OUR LICENSES ARE UNDER DIFFERENT GRAPHISOFT ID COMPANIES

IF YOUR LICENSES ARE CONNECTED TO DIFFERENT GRAPHISOFT ID COMPANIES THIS IS HOW TO MOVE FORWARD

If your company has been using Graphisoft products for some time, it’s not unusual to end up with licenses and users spread across multiple Graphisoft ID Companies. This can make daily administration more complex than necessary.

The good news is that this can usually be resolved by merging Graphisoft ID Companies.

This article explains when merging makes sense, how it works, and when it is not possible.

Why do licenses end up in different companies?

Common reasons include:

  • A mix of key‑based and cloud licenses
  • Different administrators creating companies independently
  • License migrations or conversions over time
  • A gradual transition to subscription‑based cloud licensing

As a result, licenses and users may be managed in separate company accounts.

Why merge Graphisoft ID Companies?

Merging companies allows you to:

  • Manage all users and licenses in one place
  • Reduce administrative overhead
  • Improve visibility of contracts and service levels
  • Simplify future license management

After the merge, everything is handled within a single primary company account.

How does the merge work?

  • Only two Graphisoft ID Companies can be merged at a time
  • Additional companies can be merged step by step if all conditions are met
  • During the process, the system defines:
    • a primary company
    • a secondary company

During the merge:

  • All licenses and members are retained
  • Company roles (Administrator, Contract Manager) are removed from the secondary company
  • Roles can be reassigned after the merge is completed

What happens after the merge?

Once the merge is finished:

  • All users and licenses belong to the primary company
  • The primary company’s name is used for:
    • invoicing
    • internal Graphisoft systems
  • The service level (SSA / Forward / Subscription) of the primary company remains
  • The Administrator and Contract Manager of the primary company keep their roles

When is merging not possible?

Merging Graphisoft ID Companies is not possible if:

  • Both companies have (or previously had) cloud licenses
  • Both companies have active BIMcloud SaaS subscriptions
  • Perpetual licenses were never linked to a Graphisoft ID Company
(These must first be associated with a company before merging)
